Location: Camp Harrison at Herring Ridge. A
spectacular tract of land in the Brushy Mountains of
Western North Carolina located between Lenior
and North Wilkesboro just 90 minutes from Charlotte,
NC. There are 1438 acres of woods, streams, and
trails centered around a private, 140 acre lake. Camp
Harrison at Herring Ridge was founded and developed through the vision of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, Camp Thunderbird, and a Board of Directors made up of leading citzens from the Central Carolinas.
Philosophy: Camp Harrison is a co-ed resident camp for boys and girls ages 7-17. A place where values are acquired, environmental stewardship is taught, self reliance and sportsmanship learned, Lake interpersonal skills developed, and character and confidence built. It is founded on Christian values and structured to help boys and girls grow in spirit, mind, and body. Camp Harrison introduces children to an exciting approach to summer camping. Campers will have the opportunity to explore and gain an
appreciation of the environment while also participating in traditional summer camp activities on both land and water.

One week sessions offer program variety and quality. Individualized instruction is standard with a 1:4 staff to camper ratio that permits personal attention and quick learning.
