We are pleased that Camp Harrison at Herring Ridge is one of the camps you are considering for your child. We realize that as a parent you have many options in a summer camp, and we want you to be comfortable with the camp you choose. Camp Harrison is part of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, one of the strongest YMCAs in the nation, and a sister camp to nationally recognized Camp Thunderbird. Camp has continued to grow and flourish since its inaugural summer of 2004. We are excited for you to join us as we continue to build on our successes.
While fun and excitement are certainly a goal for Camp Harrison campers, safety is our first priority. Camp Harrison strives to find the highest quality staff available. Our staff is trained in First Aid/CPR, and many of our staff are trained lifeguards. We screen each applicant with an in-depth interview, multiple reference checks and background checks by state and national authorities.
Camp Harrison provides quality activities and programs that challenge children spiritually, mentally and physically. We take pride in our facilities and counseling staff, as well as the fact that we expose campers to the outdoors, new friendships, and the personal challenges and rewards of residential camping.
